Neighborhood Activities
Residents of Kingsley and their families enjoy four city organized and funded activities throughout the year. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and have some fun.
Egg Hunt
The annual Kingsley Easter Egg Hunt is held on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. It’s a Kingsley tradition that is much enjoyed by all the youngsters, and now we have started partnering with Strathmoor Village to share the fun. Children gather at Kingsley Green and await the Mayors’ official start of the hunt. There are picture taking opportunities with the Easter Bunny, and most kids cart home a good supply of candy-filled eggs. Check back here to confirm the date for 2025.
Yard Sale
Kingsley’s annual yard sale is a great opportunity to purge basements and closets of unwanted items. It’s also a great opportunity to stroll the neighborhood and meet your neighbors. You might just find a bargain on something you didn’t even know you needed! If it turns out that you really didn’t need it, you can always put it back out in next year’s yard sale. The city-wide sale is always held on the first Saturday in June. For 2024, that date was June 1st, and it was a beautiful day.
Don’t miss this in 2025!
Picnic
Kingsley’s annual Picnic in the Park celebration is the second Sunday of September. We had a great turn out in 2019 between Kingsley and Strathmoor Village residents. Kids kicked soccer balls around Kingsley Green and got face to face with some farm animals in a mini petting zoo. Sadly, we had to cancel the picnic in both 2020 and 2021 due to COVID concerns, and then in 2022 due to rain making the park a mushy mess.
Fortunately, we had a great event in 2023 and in 2024. For two years in a row, we had tons of residents come have a good time.
Put this on your calendar to come meet and greet neighbors and share a meal provided by the cities. Bring the kids, the grandkids, a healthy appetite, and all the good weather you can muster.
Halloween Celebration
We celebrate Halloween each year, but the activity varies…..some years we have a “parade” for the children to dress up and walk from Kingsley Green Park around the Montrose Ave/Tyler Ln/Kings Hwy triangle before getting treats and some years we have a modified Trunk or Treat in Kingsley Green Park. Both are the weekend before Halloween. We had to cancel in 2023 because of rain, so we’re thinking we might schedule an earlier date in 2024 with a rain date identified. It’s really fun to see all the little ones in their outfits, and to chat with the parents without any time constraints. It’s much more relaxing than the actual Halloween Trick or Treat night!
